Admissions Manager – UWC ISAK JAPAN

Overview

The Admissions Manager supports the overall operations of the Office of Admissions, with three areas of focus: student recruitment, applicant screening and selection, and the enrollment and onboarding of accepted students.

Reporting to the Head of Admissions, the Admissions Manager will be at the core of the admissions process for Grade 10 student enrollment. The Admissions Manager will also assist with duties related to worldwide UWC (Grade 11) student intake, and support new students/families as they prepare for life at UWC ISAK Japan. The position will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with an interest in working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position that requires participation in a variety of events and activities outside of regular office hours.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Admissions with the development of a comprehensive admissions and enrollment strategy for UWC ISAK Japan, working with all stakeholders on the creation, review, and implementation of policies and practices.
  • Oversee outreach, promotion, student selection and enrollment for Grade 10 admission.
  • Assist with the Financial Assistance application, assessment, and award process for all eligible students.
  • Support the student admissions and enrollment for the UWC International Office’s Global Selection Program and UWC National Committee admissions pathways.
  • Coordinate with and train faculty, staff, and Alumni to effectively support the review and assessment process for student admissions in line with the stated procedures.
  • Coordinate with and train students, faculty, staff, and alumni as needed for the purpose of school promotional activities (Open Days, campus tours, external events, etc.).
  • Oversee Admissions contractors, ensuring all members of staff supporting Admissions are fully trained in the relevant work policies, processes, and protocols.
  • Represent the school’s mission, programs, curriculum, and philosophy knowledgeably and effectively to prospective students and families.
  • Provide guidance to applicants and their families regarding the application process
  • Manage the onboarding and arrivals process for newly accepted domestic and international. students/families prior to the start of their first school year
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries from prospective students/families
  • Support with the translation of admissions-related materials and website content as needed
  • Other related duties, as assigned

 

Education & Experience

  • University degree in any field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in education, admissions, and/or student recruitment preferred.
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Business-level English and Japanese. Bilingual speaking/reading/writing fluency in Japanese & English is preferred, but not required.

 

Skills

  • Comfortable with technology, ideally SurveyMonkey Apply and common webinar platforms.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment that values innovation and problem solving
  • Desire and ability to work with adults and students from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to take the initiative in developing and implementing new procedures and programs
  • Willingness to learn and capacity to adapt to changing situations
  • Comfortable with answering frequent admissions-related phone calls in English or Japanese
  • Service-oriented and sensitive to applicants’ needs and concerns
  • Access to a car and valid driver’s license required (due to campus location).

All employees must adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy at all times. If, in the course of carrying out their duties, a teacher becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, they must report those concerns to the DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or DDSL (Deputy Designated safeguarding Lead) immediately.

Start Date: August 16 2025

Details: Full-time, one-year contract with option to renew

Schedule: Regular work hours: Monday – Friday from 8:30AM to 5:15PM. Please note that this position will require evening and weekend work, especially during peak admissions season.

Location: UWC ISAK Japan Campus (Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture)

Salary Range (annual): 4.5 – 4.8 million JPY (salary commensurate to experience)
