High School English Teacher (Start Apr. 2026)

Position: Full-time Junior/Senior High School English Teacher Seirei Christopher Junior/Senior High School – Global School Course

Job Overview

This role involves designing and teaching engaging English lessons for junior and senior high school students, with a focus on concept-based inquiry learning. The teacher will collaborate with other staff on curriculum, lead or assist a homeroom class, and participate in school meetings and professional development. Depending on your background, there may be opportunities to teach other subjects.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field.
• An understanding and appreciation of the school’s Christian heritage and its “love thy neighbor” mission.
• An understanding of, or strong interest in, a concept-based inquiry learning approach.

Preferred:

• Teaching license/certificate.
• Previous experience teaching junior/senior high school English.
• Experience teaching at an IB World School.
• Knowledge of Japanese culture and language.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary: ¥252,000 to ¥448,000 per month (before tax), based on experience and school regulations.
• Bonuses: Equivalent to four months’ salary annually, paid twice a year. An additional bonus may be possible at the end of the fiscal year.
• Benefits: Health insurance, limited travel support, national and private retirement contributions, as well as housing and transportation allowances.
• Contract: A one-year renewable contract with the possibility of tenure.
