Ritsumeikan Trust – Specially Hired Tenured English Teacher (Social Studies)

The Ritsumeikan Trust is hiring a Specially Hired Tenured English Teacher for Ritsumeikan Uji Junior and Senior High School in Uji City, Kyoto, Japan. Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be a Primary School and Junior/Senior High School Tenured Teacher. Duties include:

  • Teaching classes and managing a home room (HR) class.
  • Developing teaching materials and managing student behavior.
  • Engaging in duties related to entrance examinations, school events, and extracurricular club activities.
  • Communicating with parents and guardians and attending meetings.
  • Participating in workshops and performing other necessary duties as instructed by the principal.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the requirements in Table A and one of the requirements in Table B.

Table A Requirements:

  • Be able to begin work on April 1, 2026.
  • Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Speak English as a first language or have equivalent ability.
  • Have at least one consecutive year of full-time teaching experience in the same subject.
  • Be able to manage a home room class and teach IBDP (Geography and History).

Table B Requirements (must meet one):

  1. Have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in geography or history.
  2. Hold both a Japanese junior high school and a senior high school teaching license (Class 1 or Specialist) in Geography and History.

It is also preferred that applicants hold a teaching license from their home country and have sufficient Japanese language proficiency to handle daily administrative tasks and communicate in classes.

  • Copies of your final degree certificate or a letter from the university stating you are a graduate.

  • Copies of any teaching licenses from your home country.
  • Copies of any workshop completion certificates issued by the IBO, if applicable.

Selection Process

The application period is from Sunday, September 28, 2025, to Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 11:59 PM (Japan Standard Time). The selection process includes three stages:

  1. Application Screening: The results will be sent to the provided email address by Friday, November 7.
  2. Sample Lesson and Interview: To be held on Saturday, November 15, or Sunday, November 16.
  3. Aptitude Tests and Final Interview: To be held on Saturday, December 6, or Sunday, December 7, at the Ritsumeikan Suzaku Campus in Kyoto City.
