Rugby School Japan is seeking an outstanding and dynamic teacher to lead the co-curricular side of the School.
The Deputy Principal Co-Curricular is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and development of the school’s co-curricular programs, including sports, creative arts, and performing arts. This role will provide visionary leadership to ensure the school offers a dynamic, inclusive, and world-class co-curricular experience that complements its academic excellence.
The Deputy Principal Co-Curricular will directly manage the newly established positions of Director of Sports, Director of Music, Director of Drama, and Director of Art, fostering collaboration and innovation across departments.
RSJ is the second international sister school of Rugby School, one of the UK’s most prestigious and well-known schools. It shares Rugby’s aims and ethos, and aspires to be one of Asia’s top schools. RSJ is an international co-educational day and boarding school for 11-18-year olds, located on a spectacular campus in Kashiwa-no-ha, 30 minutes by train from central Tokyo. The School opened in September 2023, offering its students Rugby’s academic and co-curricular programmes, leading to IGCSE and A-level studies, and access to the world’s leading universities. A Rugby education focuses upon the importance of developing the whole person.

The School is a boarding and day school in full operation seven days per week including evenings during term time. Pastoral, co-curricular, cultural and sports activities take place outside normal day-school hours and all staff are expected to contribute.

Interviews
Longlisted candidates will be interviewed on a rolling basis. Interviews will be online via video link.
Qualifications, Identification, Health and Background Checks

You will be required to bring documentation to the interview providing proof of your identity, including an attested (by a notary) birth certificate, and qualifications. If successful at interview, the position will be offered subject to satisfactory references and police checks. For all candidates, we will request the most recent DBS check and may require further background checks. We also require that anyone who is currently living and working in a country other than the UK must be able to provide a police check from the national checking agency. All references will be verified and we require a minimum of two references, one of whom must be your present, or most recent, employer.
