Diploma Years Programme Coordinator

Job Summary:

The DP Coordinator oversees the delivery of the DP curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB standards while fostering a student-centered, inspiring learning environment. With a passion for motivating young learners, they work closely with staff to ensure teaching reflects IB philosophy, support curriculum development, lead professional development, and collaborate with teachers, administration, and students to provide a high-quality educational experience. The DP Coordinator also serves as the liaison between the school and the IB, ensuring compliance with program requirements and growth of the program and community is essential.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field..
  • 2+ years in an IB coordinator role and IB DP Coordination training.
  • 5+ years international high school teaching experience (using IBDP framework). Some teaching may be required, based on subject/course enrolment. 
  • 2+ years experience in a school leadership role
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of IB DP framework, and academic inclusion practices (i.e. MTSS, Universal Design Learning).
  • Effective communication with students, parents, and the community.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, staff, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to the values of the YMCA, including respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring.

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Experience with Concept Based Learning

Major Responsibilities

Leading and Managing the Programme

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing support of the DP curriculum, ensuring full compliance with IB standards and expectations.
  • Co-Lead the IBO process for evaluation
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the IB organization, ensuring accreditation standards are met and staying informed on all DP updates and requirements.
  • Lead assessment processes, including exams, grading, and reporting, ensuring fairness and transparency.
  • Provide guidance on IB procedures and support program improvements based on feedback and best practices.
  • Balance attention to detail with strategic planning to address current needs and future program development.
  • Collaborate with the MYP Coordinator to ensure a smooth transition from MYP to DP programmes.

Leading Teaching and Learning

  • Oversee and support all DP teachers in the effective application of DP assessment criteria to promote student success.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development of rigorous, inquiry-based units that engage and challenge students.
  • Drive professional development initiatives focused on best practices in DP pedagogy for faculty and staff.
  • Actively participate in school leadership meetings, contributing to the strategic planning and continuous improvement of the school.

Contributing to a Learning Community

  • Organize and Participate in school events as needed, including information sessions, to promote the spirit and understanding of the IBDP and pathways.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents, offering insight into student progress and guidance on the DP framework.
  • Adhere to the school’s Child Safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring the wellbeing of all students
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Consistently reflect on own leadership
  • Be organised and disciplined with own responsibilities
  • Set and monitor own challenging learning goals, seeking out own professional learning opportunities
  • Organize and Participate in school events as needed, including information sessions, to promote the spirit and understanding of the IBDP and pathways.
