OYIS is seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teacher to join our Early Years team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, play-based environment where young learners can explore, discover, and grow. This role involves designing engaging, inquiry-based learning opportunities, fostering positive relationships, and inspiring independence and curiosity in young children.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in teaching with specialisation in early childhood education; or Bachelor’s Degree with a Post-Graduate Certificate or Diploma in early childhood education
  • 3+ years teaching experience
  • Experience in a play-based learning environment
  • IBPYP experience
  • Native level (or near) English
  • Efficient level of ICT literacy (with experience in using GSuite for Education)

Desired:

  • Masters in education with a specialisation in early childhood education
  • Experience in a Reggio-inspired learning environment
  • Experience with the implementation of Universal Design for Learning
  • Experience in implementing restorative practices
  • Fluency in spoken Japanese

  • Document learning journeys, using them to inform further learning opportunities
  • Maintain planning records

Instructing

  • Provide opportunities for children to test theories and play with possibilities
  • Engage children in open-ended explorations
  • Differentiate according to learning needs
  • Empower children to inquire further into unplanned outcomes
  • Check for prior learning
  • Take ownership of the achievements of children

Managing Learning Environments

  • Ensure learning environments are safe and supports learning
  • Empower children to collaborate with others
  • Use learning environments as the “Third Teacher”
  • Provide regular opportunities for children to learn beyond classroom walls

Contributing to a Learning Community

  • Reflect the school’s mission, vision and values in own choices and actions
  • Be organised and disciplined with own responsibilities
  • Set and monitor own challenging learning goals, seeking out own professional learning opportunities
