POSITION SUMMARY
–As a homeroom teacher for Grades 1, 2, or 3–an English immersion program at Showa Elementary School–the Employee will perform the following duties:
Preparing for classes, grading, report writing, and all other tasks related to class management and associated responsibilities for English Language Arts, Math, Life Science, Physical Education, Music, and Art, following the Ministry of Education’s curriculum guidelines. Foreign homeroom teachers are not responsible for instructing Japanese Language, Ethics, and Social Studies.
–Creating, organizing, improving, implementing, and developing the curriculum for students in grades 1 through 6, as directed by the coordinator. This includes the creation of original teaching materials and supplementary materials.
–Fulfilling general educational duties related to student instruction, including teaching outside of regular class hours.
–Completing other tasks related to student development, such as preparing exams and evaluating exam results, along with other administrative duties that contribute to improving student academic performance.
–Participating in meetings, including department meetings, planning meetings, grading and assessment meetings, staff meetings, and other relevant meetings.
–Attending school events and functions.
–Supervising and coordinating off-campus learning activities and overnight trips, both domestic and international. *Note: These may occur during long school breaks.
–Participating in student recruitment-related activities, such as school information sessions and entrance exam administration. *Note: These may occur during long school breaks.
–Participating in teacher training and audit activities as directed by the Employer.
–Collaborating and coordinating with internal departments and external organizations.
–Performing other duties as assigned by the Employer based on mutual agreement between the Employer and the Employee.
–Note: There will be no changes to the job description during the contract period. However, if changes occur due to the educational needs of the Employer, the Employer and the Employee will discuss the adjustments in good faith, and the Employee’s duties may be modified as part of the Employer’s overall operations.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
–Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed. or equivalent)
–Valid elementary teaching certification from your home country
–At least 3 years of full-time classroom teaching experience (ALT/TESOL-only experience not applicable)

Preferred Qualifications:
–Master’s degree in Education or a related field
–Native English proficiency or equivalent
–Experience with the Cambridge curriculum
–Conversational Japanese ability
–Valid working visa for the contract duration

TERM OF CONTRACT

October 2025 Hiring
–October 1, 2025 – March 31, 2029
–The Employee is subject to a probationary period until September 30, 2026.

January 2026 Hiring
–January 9, 2026 – March 31, 2029
–The Employee is subject to a probationary period until January 8, 2027.

WORKING CONDITIONS
–Working Hours, Schedule: Based on the work schedule, there may be a requirement for staggered working hours.
–Workdays: 5 days per week, Monday through Friday.
–Working Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (with a 60-minute break), a total of 8 hours per day.
–Days Off, Holidays:
Days off: 2 days per week, Saturday and Sunday.
National holidays, Founding Anniversary (May 2), and New Year’s holidays (December 29 – January 3) are not workdays.

–Non-scheduled Work:
Overtime Work: Yes
Holiday Work: Yes (as a general rule, substitute holidays may be taken on days designated in advance by the supervisor).
Paid Leave: Paid leave will be granted on the condition that the Employee works at least 80% of the total contracted working days. The granted annual paid leave will be valid for 2 years from the grant date.

Number of days granted: 15
Grant date: October 2025 (granted immediately on the starting date of employment)
Of the paid leave granted as outlined above, 5 days are designated to be taken during 5 weekdays in August, as specified by the Employer.

–Long-Term Breaks (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring): During long-term breaks, if the Employer or another responsible party requests the Employee to work on certain days to complete job duties, the Employee must report to work on those days.
–Special Leave for Family Events (e.g., bereavement, etc.): In accordance with the service regulations established by the Employer.
–Designated Days by the Employer

COMPENSATION
–Annual Salary: The salary ranges from JPY 5,000,000 to 6,000,000+, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills. The first salary payment in October 2025 will be prorated based on the Employee’s first date of employment.
–Allowances: A commuting allowance will reimburse actual expenses, up to JPY 50,000 per month, in accordance with the Employer’s regulations. A housing allowance will also be provided in line with the Employer’s regulations.
–Relocation: An economy class air ticket between Tokyo and the candidate’s home country will be provided for both the candidate and their spouse. A relocation allowance, including shipment expenses, will be provided for the candidate and their spouse, subject to the Employer’s regulations, and is applicable for foreign-hired candidates.
–Health and Welfare Benefits: Health Insurance, Retirement Mutual Aid Pension, Unemployment Insurance , Workers’ Compensation Insurance, Annual Health Checkup
–Salary Closing Date: Last day of each month
–Salary Payment Date: The salary will be paid on the 21st of each month (if the 21st falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday, payment will be made the previous day to the Employee’s designated bank account.
–Salary Deductions: Deductions will be made following the Employer’s “Agreement on Payroll Deductions.” If the Employee is late, leaves early, or has absences, deductions will be made for the corresponding non-working time and days, following the Employer’s salary regulations.
–Salary Increase: None
–Merit Pay (Bonus): None
–Retirement Allowance: None

SELECTION PROCESS AND INTERVIEW DATES
–The selection process and criteria outlined below may change depending on the applications received. Interview dates will be shared with eligible shortlisted candidates.
–Document Screening: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the review of submitted documents.
–Online Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview.
–In-Person Interview + Demo Lesson: Candidates who successfully pass the online interview will be invited for an in-person interview with one or more administrators, along with a demonstration lesson.
–Note: Candidates are responsible for travel costs during the selection process.
