Rugby School Japan is seeking an outstanding and dynamic teacher and leader to join the School.
The Head of Sixth Form & Future Pathways has been created as a new role for the School. It is a Middle Leadership position, with responsibility for ensuring the best outcomes for pupils in the Sixth Form, both in terms of their A-level studies as well as their acceptance at top universities and progress towards the most competitive career pathways worldwide.
Reporting to the Deputy Principal (Academic), they will provide strategic leadership and management of the academic pathway for pupils studying in the Sixth Form – including preparing them for making suitable A-level choices, tracking and monitoring their academic progress, and overseeing all aspects of their applications to higher education. They will be responsible for all aspects of guiding and supporting pupils as they apply to universities across the globe. They will be the key advisor to all staff, pupils and parents/carers in the choice of institution and relevant application processes. They will also liaise with academic staff to provide expert university guidance support to pupils to access and thrive at their first choice of university destination. They will coordinate closely with a team of staff including all Sixth Form tutors, HMs, the Scholarship Programme Coordinator, the EPQ Coordinator and the Whole School Data Analyst.
RSJ is the second international sister school of Rugby School, one of the UK’s most prestigious and well-known schools. It shares Rugby’s aims and ethos, and aspires to be one of Asia’s top schools. RSJ is an international co-educational day and boarding school for 11-18-year olds, located on a spectacular campus in Kashiwa-no-ha, 30 minutes by train from central Tokyo. The School opened in September 2023, offering its students Rugby’s academic and co-curricular programmes, leading to IGCSE and A-level studies, and access to the world’s leading universities. The School is a boarding and day school in full operation seven days per week including evenings during term time. Pastoral, co-curricular, cultural and sports activities take place outside normal day-school hours and all staff are expected to contribute.

Interviews
Longlisted candidates will be interviewed on a rolling basis. Interviews will be online via video link.
Qualifications, Identification, Health and Background Checks

If successful at interview, the position will be offered subject to satisfactory references and police checks. We also require that anyone who is currently living and working in a country other than the UK must be able to provide a police check from the national checking agency. All references will be verified and we require a minimum of two references, one of whom must be your present, or most recent, employer.
