Horizon Japan International School -Yokohama seeks for a motivated and experienced Secondary School Learning Support Teacher to join the team. The successful candidate will work with students in grades 6-12 who require additional learning support, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

– Provide specialized support to secondary students in the classroom and through targeted interventions.
– Collaborate with subject teachers to differentiate instruction and modify assessments to accommodate learning needs.
– Develop and implement learning plans, including Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), for students requiring additional support.
– Monitor academic progress and provide regular feedback to students, teachers, and parents.
– Guide students in developing effective learning strategies, time management, and self-advocacy skills.
– Engage with parents to ensure they are informed of their child’s progress and ways to support learning at home.
– Coordinate with external professionals, such as counselors and educational psychologists, to support students holistically.
– Stay current with developments in inclusive education and learning support practices.

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
– Certification in Learning Support or Special Education is preferred.
– Experience working with secondary school students with learning challenges.
– Experience in IB Programs is preferred.
– Strong understanding of the challenges and needs of adolescent learners.
– Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
– Ability to create and implement effective IEPs and other support plans.
