Middle Years Programme Coordinator

Job Summary:
The MYP Coordinator oversees the delivery of the MYP curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB standards while fostering a student-centered, inspiring learning environment. With a passion for motivating young learners, they work closely with faculty to ensure teaching reflects IB philosophy, support curriculum development, lead professional development, and collaborate with faculty, administration, and students to provide a high-quality educational experience. The MYP Coordinator also serves as the liaison between the school and the IB, ensuring compliance with program requirements.
Essential Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- 2+ years of MYP Coordinator experience and IB MYP Coordination training.
- 5+ years international middle school teaching experience (using IB framework). Some teaching may be required based on need.
- 2+ years experience in a school leadership role
- Strong Interpersonal skills and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, staff, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of IB MYP framework, and academic inclusion practices (i.e. MTSS, Universal Design Learning).
- Commitment to the values of the YMCA, including respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring.

Major Responsibilities
Leading and Managing the Programme
- Lead the implementation and ongoing support of the MYP curriculum, ensuring full compliance with IB standards and expectations.
- Co-Lead the MYP process for evaluation
- Serve as the primary liaison with the IB organization, ensuring accreditation standards are met and staying informed on all MYP updates and requirements.
- Coordinate the Personal Project, ensuring comprehensive guidance for both students and mentors throughout the process.
- Reflect on and consider global educational trends, ensuring that the MYP remains innovative and responsive to evolving educational demands.
- Collaborate with the PYP and DP Coordinators to ensure a smooth transition from PYP through to MYP and MYP to DP programmes.
- Ensure implementation of enhancing the MYP Curriculum
Leading Teaching and Learning
- Oversee and support teachers in the effective application of MYP assessment criteria to promote student success.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure the seamless integration of interdisciplinary units and consistent assessment practices across subjects.
- Provide strategic leadership in the development of rigorous, inquiry-based units that engage and challenge students.
- Drive professional development initiatives focused on best practices in MYP pedagogy for faculty and staff.
- Ensure the implementation of Service as Action Curriculum
- Actively participate in school leadership meetings, contributing to the strategic planning and continuous improvement of the school.
Contributing to a Learning Community
- Organize and Participate in school events as needed, including information sessions, to promote the spirit and understanding of the MYP and related components.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents, offering insight into student progress and guidance on the MYP framework.
- Adhere to the school’s Child Safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring the wellbeing of all students
- Consistently reflect on own leadership

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Set and monitor own challenging learning goals, seeking out own professional learning opportunities
