Teach 1st and 2nd year junior high school students part time (Tuesdays and Thursdays) at a prestigious private secondary school in Hachioji, Tokyo starting in April.
Thank you for your considering working for Project Genius, a concern of Korakuen English Centre, at one of our client schools. We aim to be the premier English language consultancy firm for private secondary schools in Japan.
Our client school for this position is a prestigious private school near Takao Station on the Keio Line and JR Chuo Line.
We are looking for a professional who can work well within a small team to successfully implement the existing curriculum (flexible about introducing new plans) while bringing their own ideas and style to the program.
Two teachers from our company at this client-school share one homeroom and lesson plans during each lesson. Our teachers are responsible for all aspects of the class, from lesson planning to classroom management and grading.
We are looking for someone who can work two days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This position starts from April 2025.
We will only consider candidates who already live and are able to work in Japan. We do provide support for our teachers who need to renew their visas.
Our compensation package includes
● A monthly pre-tax salary of 120,000 yen per month.
● Transportation expenses will be fully covered and reimbursed.
● A Japanese school year based renewable contract.
● Remuneration is the same every month, regardless of time off during summer, winter, spring, and other holidays during the school year.
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
● hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
● can reach the school within one hour from their home (flexible).
● has at least one year experience teaching at a public or private secondary school in Japan.
● is comfortable solo teaching, managing and evaluating classes of up to 20 students.
● is interested in teaching active, communicative lessons.
● is able and willing to teach with other teachers and can effectively collaborate with teachers both in and outside the classroom.
● is able and willing to develop and share ideas for lesson plans, activities, and materials.
● enjoys talking about teaching and pedagogy and is able to be self reflective about their teaching and willing to share their thoughts before and after a lesson.
● is able to be a team player and compromise while keeping a positive attitude with the staff and teachers, Japanese and non-Japanese, at our client school as well as with our off-site office and executive team.
● is willing to communicate with and take advice from our management team both on-line and in-person to ensure effective results for our client-schools and their students.
● speaks English with a native-level proficiency.
● speaks conversational-level Japanese.
● current holders of visas allowing work in Japan.
