Summer 2025 Intensive English Program Instructor

Position: The International University of Japan in Niigata-ken is looking for temporary English Language Instructors to teach in its summer Intensive English Program for graduate level students from Japan and several other countries. The contract length will be five weeks: One-week orientation and end-of-course report writing, and four weeks teaching. The contract runs July 9th – August 12th, 2025.

Essential Qualifications:
MA or equivalent in TESL/TEFL or related field and two-years’ experience teaching at the tertiary level.
Currently resides in Japan or will reside at the time of the contract.
Computer literacy.

Desirable:
Teaching academic writing, oral presentations, & academic discussion skills
Experience teaching EAP
A PhD
Experience teaching business English

Duties: Teach intermediate-level students up to 16 hrs/wk; assist in testing & materials preparation; attend meetings; write short student reports; participate in extracurricular activities.

Salary: ¥ 630,000 for the five-week contract.

Location: Minami Uonuma-shi, Niigata prefecture (90-minute shinkansen train ride from Tokyo).
