Teacher of Computer Science – August 2025 start

Reports to: Subject Leader – Computer Science

Responsibilities:  Teaching Computer Science to Years 7 to 13, Form Tutor and contributing to the extracurricular programme

The Computer Science Department

The Computer Science Department consists of three teachers in their own dedicated area. The KS3 curriculum is internally constructed and prepares students for KS4 and KS5 study where we currently offer Edexcel IGCSE and CIE A Level. However, in 2025, BST will begin the transition to IBDP for Years 12 and 13. The subject is an extremely popular option choice and results in external examinations are highly impressive. Students in recent years have gone on to study Computing related courses at a range of top universities in the UK, Japan and abroad. The extracurricular offering at BST is vast with the Computer Science department being a key contributor to this, with opportunities such as VEX robotics, the iDEA award, visits to local firms and entrance in FOBISIA, COBIS and other cyber security and programming competitions.

The role would suit an enthusiastic teacher with a passion for Computer Science, who understands the use of effective research-informed pedagogical strategies, has extensive subject knowledge to facilitate challenge for all students and experience with mixed ability classes.
