Position Overview
We are seeking a flexible and dynamic teacher to join our team to deliver Economics and Global Politics. This position offers a unique opportunity for candidates with leadership aspirations, as it includes the potential to become the Head of the Individuals and Societies Department.
Key Responsibilities
– Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in Economics and Global Politics.
– Foster critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and intercultural understanding in line with the HJIS mission.
– Develop interdisciplinary projects that align with the IB framework and encourage global perspectives.
– Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
– Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment across Individuals and Societies subjects.
– Actively contribute to the school community by participating in events, professional development, and extracurricular activities.
Leadership Opportunity: For candidates with leadership potential, this position includes the opportunity to take on the role of Head of Individuals and Societies Department, with responsibilities such as:
– Leading curriculum development and alignment for Individuals and Societies subjects.
– Mentoring and supporting colleagues within the department.
– Promoting the school’s mission through innovative and collaborative leadership.
Qualifications
– A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Economics, Political Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
– Experience teaching Economics and Global Politics at the secondary level (IB DP experience is highly desirable).
– Strong knowledge of the IB framework, inquiry-based teaching, and intercultural understanding.
– Leadership experience or potential, with the ability to inspire and guide colleagues.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
– Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse, global learning environment.
